SLR cameras are all the rage these days. But let’s be honest, with the 30 something pounds in tote between your baby and all of the things you need to pack into a diaper bag, an SLR is not the most functional option for a mom. We need a camera that takes amazing pictures and won’t add too much weight to our already hefty load!
That’s why I LOVE the Cannon PowerShot SD1200IS. It has a huge LCD screen (almost 3 inches) and 10.0-megapixel resolution (that’s enough to capture exquisite details for prints up to 13×19 inches). To boot, it also has Smart AUTO which selects the proper settings for each picture you, so all you have to do is point and shoot and you will get an amazing picture every time!

And for $149! That is a super deal when you compare it to an SLR which retails for at least $500.
Other accessories we would recommend to make your picture taking and downloading experience easier:
Kingston 4 GB Class 4 SDHC Flash Memory Card SD4/4GB or Sandisk 4GB Secure Digital SD HC Memory Card
Click away without having to worry about filling up your memory card in one day.

Vivitar RW-CF Compact Flash Memory Card Reader
One of my favorite gadgets, the memory card reader let’s me transfer all of my pictures to my computer within seconds. No more hassling with wires and software to transfer pictures from your camera to your computer. And since it’s compatible with multiple memory card types, you can easily transfer other people’s pictures too! Great for when a friend comes over with their camera and you don’t want to wait for them to email or print the pictures for you.
