If you are or have ever been a renter you know that many landlords prohibit painting the walls of their apartments.
And if you’re anything like me, you can’t stand the sight of white walls for too long.
As a life-long renter, I’ve discovered ways to get around this.

1- Decals.
Large scale wall stickers or smaller decals that form a bigger picture have definitely been my go-to resources in the past. You can stick them up and peel them off whenever you need to. No glue. Hassle-free repositioning.
The wall stickers in the image above are fabric decals by Pop & Lolli.
2- Temporary Wallpaper.
That’s right!
TEMPORARY WALLPAPER!
Tempaper is a vinyl coated self adhesive wallpaper. Printed using the traditional technique of intaglio copper plate engraving brings a classic look and feel to the finished product.
I’m in love.
3- Fabric.
You can’t paint…
But no one said anything about upholstered walls.
No drills necessary.
Pick a beautiful fabric (or tablecloth or bed sheets) and cover your walls without damaging them. All you need is starch and a paint roller.
Wash your fabric beforehand in order to prevent the color from bleeding all over the walls. Roll starch on the walls. Place fabric. Roll over fabric with starch.

LoVe these ideas. Thanks for sharing them. Renting can be tough when it comes to decorating but these are all excellent ideas. I love the idea with the fabric. x

@Fiona @ Oh Gorgeous Baby, I saw the fabric idea on The Nate Show. Love that man! Renting can really limit decorating choices sometimes.

Great tips…. I have an idea too! How about paintings and prints… it’s a great alternative to painting…. it decorates without having to be permanent and they can become family heirlooms to pass down to the next generation! Check out my shop here for fresh and modern nursery/ kid’s room decor:
