Modern nurseries are very trendy right now. They have been for quite some time. Here are some design tips for creating a modern space that you and your baby will love.
1. Keep it simple.
Use muted tones and clean lines in your design. Stick to basic shapes and make your room as functional as possible.

2. Adaptability is key.
Choose items that will grow with your baby or that can later move into another room in your home. Good examples are cribs that convert into toddler beds (or even full sized beds) and rocking chairs or gliders that you can relocate to a bedroom or your living room.

1. Vola Glider by Monte, 2. POÄNG Rocking Chair from Ikea (available in 12 different prints and colors), 3. Sleepytime Rocker from Nurseryworks
3. No themes.
A room that’s too ‘matchy’ or based on a specif theme, like butterflies, or a cartoon character will get old quickly. Chose a few related pieces but remember tip #1, keep it simple.
4. Splashes of color.
Introduce bright colors into your design with accessories (bins, frames, stuffed animals, crib bedding, etc).

1. Owls Crib Bedding Set by Dwell Studio 2. Alphabet Blue Crib Bedding Set by Little House 3. Maggie Crib Bedding Set by Serena & Lilly
5. Make it child-friendly.
You’re designing your nursery with an infant in mind but that baby will become a toddler in the blink of an eye. Create a room that will encourage exploration! Use cubbies to store toys for easy access and display book covers to encourage reading.

1. Trend Lab Dr Seuss ABC Storage Bin, 2. Kids’ Toy Organizer and Storage Bin, 3. 3 Sprouts Organic Storage Bin
