The Stork is Coming: 3 Cute Ways to Announce Your Pregnancy

Who knew that two little blue lines could make someone so happy? Finding out you’re pregnant is one of the most exciting moments of a pregnancy – along with hearing the heart beat and feeling that little baby kick for the first time. Here are some creative ideas on how to share “the big news” with your loved ones.

1. A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: A photograph of a positive pregnancy test is a common way to announce a pregnancy. But isn’t a picture of a chalkboard due date pointing at your soon-to-be growing belly so much cuter?

2. Announce it With a T-Shirt: If you’re expecting a second child, have the soon-to-be big brother or sister announce the pregnancy with a t-shirt like this one. If this is your first, you can get a t-shirt or onesie for a niece or nephew that reads “I’m going to be a cousin” or one for a sibling that reads “I’m going to be an Aunt/Uncle.”

3. Napkin Notes: Spread the word by inviting unsuspecting family members to dinner and asking them to find their place at the table. Instead of names, write their new “titles” on a napkin.

  1. We did the t-shirt for our second pregnancy! Our 6 year old wore it to a family picnic and it was immediately noticed. :)

  2. cute! i like the chalkboard one the most.
had a nice time with you at LVmarket. hope you arrived home safe and get some good rest this weekend. xo

  3. I purchased #2 to share the news with my in-laws and the facebook world. The shirt is super high quality and affordable! Check out my pictures here: http://thetastefulllife.blogspot.com/2011/02/start-spreading-news.html

  4. For family we all sent them congratulations flowers for becoming a “grandma/grandpa/aunt/uncle” again! It was sent anonymously so it was fun having them all call everyone trying to figure out who it was that was ‘expecting’. lol As for the people that didn’t know beforehand, we sent them an email with a photo attached like the first photo here. Thanks so much for the inspiration! :)

  5. We told everyone by having them gather up to take a picture. I took the picture and said “say cheese”. I looked at it and said “oops someone blinked”. They got ready again and said “Amber’s pregnant” I caught all the amazing reactions on camera! My pictures are here: http://hiswifetwinsmommy.blogspot.com/2011/08/telling-everyone-we-were-pregnant.html

  6. I must knew about it back to my first time of conception. It takes a lot of courage before I get to say it to my family that I was pregnant. I was so scared for they might hurt me most likely my father. But thanks God I was to get through that stage.

  7. I bought a grandkids frame for the soon to be grandparents and designed a 4×6 card to insert that says Merry Christmas due July 31st. We’re announcing at Christmas so the frame will be disguised as an ordinary gift. I think this will be their favorite gift ever!

  8. I made cupcakes to reveal our baby’s gender…you can fill the cupcakes with either blue or pink frosting so everyone will find out the gender when they take a bit into it!

  9. Love the napkin idea! When we were blessing the food at a family get together, we surprised everyone by asking for a safe delivery of the newest family member. It was funny to see who was paying attention!
