Last year we featured a nursery with an over-sized abacus above the changing area. And I haven’t been able to get that abacus out of my mind since. It’s fantastic!
However…
Making your own abacus gives you the opportunity to customize the colors to match your decor and you can make one for at least half the price of the original CB2 version.
Jenny {and her husband Derek} over at Anything Pretty recently made an abacus for their nursery and share a step-by-step tutorial for how you can make one.
And they included some pretty nifty features too!
Their abacus frame is thicker so it can be screwed directly into the wall for extra safety and they made adjustments so that the beads can be switched out {in case they ever want to change the color palette}.
