What was your inspiration for the room?
I started out wanting to use giraffes for his room but just make them accents and then I decided to add in some alligators and elephants for their colors!
Describe your decorating style.
I like colors and homemade elements. I did quite a few DIY projects for his nursery. I am not a fan of dark wood so I wanted to work around white furniture.
Favorite Items.
My frame wall and pictures in it are probably my favorite decoration. I love the “best chair” that my parents got for us, it is SO comfortable.
Advice.
Do what you like! Don’t think that you have to pick a bedding/room set from babies r’us (or any other store) and have everything “matchy-matchy” and most of all HAVE FUN!
Room Resources.
Wainscoting: We actually put this up ourselves with the help of a friend’s father who is really good at home projects. We also painted it ourselves. We had our trim paint matched to paint this.
Walls: We painted the walls powder blue from Sherwin Williams.

Glider/Rocker: This is a “Best Chair” that my parents got for us for our nursery!
Giant Giraffe: This was a gift from my father-in-law and we love it! Its a Melissa and Doug from a toy store in the mall here Find it HERE
Frame Wall (above dresser): I got the frames for this project from all different stores on clearance and repainted them with the extra trim paint from the wainscoting. I made the shadowbox (DIY project directions on my blog HERE ). Some of the other frames are filled with scrapbook papers that I liked and others were with printables from blogs that I had found. There is a DIY on my blog about making a frame wall HERE
Curtains: I made the curtains myself. I couldn’t find ones that I liked that were long enough for my large/tall windows and had darkening material behind them so I decided to make some. There are DIY instruction for making curtains on my blog as well, just click HERE . I also make the cornice board at the top of the curtains to match! Directions are HERE .
Bedding: Bedding set was “scallop pique” from Pottery Barn Kids but they no longer make this bedding set. The sheet is another sheet that they make because I did not care for the plain white sheet with it.
Shelf above crib: Made by my husband and father-in-law
Blocks on the shelf over the crib: Found on etsy!
Blocks on the bookcase: Made by me. I actually made these for maternity pictures and HERE are the directions to make them.
Small Green Table: Made by my husbands grandfather a long long time ago.
Blue Table with diaper cake on it: An antique store find from years ago!
Chandelier: Pottery Barn Kids Peyton Chandelier with green shades

It’s adorable! She did such a nice job on the window treatments and all the special little details.
One tip for the great gallery wall above the changing station is to secure the frames to the wall with Command velcro strips. One day that baby will find it hysterical to flip the frames off the wall, and the constant banging and frames falling will drive you bananas. Trust me. :)

Love it! Where did you find the little outfit hanging on the wall shelf? I’m looking for something just like it to match a hat my mom made for my little guy to come home from the hospital in.

It is actually the outfit that my husband came home from the hospital in! Haha! I thought it would be neat to add some touches of our family history into the room.

How do you like the height of your Hemnes dresser for use as a changing table? I love the look and idea, but was wondering it would be too tall esp once you have a changing pad on it?

@Mary, We’ve seen this question come up before and lots of mamas seem to like it. The standard height of a changing table is 36″ and the hemnes is about 38″.
