DIY Mobile Ideas for Baby’s Nursery

I made this DIY faux capiz mobile for my daughter’s nursery. I used wax paper to mimic the look of capiz shells, but you could add some color and pattern by substituting your favorite fabric or craft paper.

The best part of making a mobile for baby’s nursery? It cost almost nothing to make!

Trend Spotting: Dark walls in the nursery

Lately, I’ve noticed nurseries with chic dark walls popping up in my Pinterest feed. While some moms and dads are using dark color to add warmth and drama to the entire room, others are using it to create a focal point with an accent wall.

Some (including me) think that dark walls in the nursery can be calming and stylish, but others feel that it may be too dark and depressing for a baby’s room. What do you think of this trend? Here are 10 Nurseries with Dark Walls to help you decide!

Newborn Registry Essentials

Putting together a baby registry can be overwhelming, especially with all the options available. My husband and I have been parents for less than two weeks, but here are six items I couldn’t live without and would highly recommend adding to your registry.

Gerber’s Cloth Diapers ($20) are thick and absorbent, which means they make great burp cloths too! You’ll need plenty and luckily they come in packs of 10.

My Boppy Nursing Pillow ($40, includes slip cover) has quickly become my best friend. Not only is it a huge help when learning to nurse, it’s also a soft seat for mom after giving birth.

Our portable changing pad ($15) makes it easy to change Hannah’s diaper no matter where we are, and because it’s waterproof and wipeable, mid-diaper change pees (there have been more than a few) are no big deal.

Ah, the Comfy Time Bouncer ($40). When you need both hands, or just want to take a shower, this chair makes it possible. Definitely a must-have for new parents.

Our newborn sleeps best when swaddled tightly but she’s already strong enough to free her arms from even our best swaddling attempts. The velcro on these Swaddle Me Blankets (2 for $20) ensures she stays snug, plus they’re easy to put on and come in tons of cute and colors and patterns.

We received an Aden + Anais Muslin Blanket as a shower gift and it’s quickly become our go-to, go-anywhere blanket. I especially love that it’s so light and breathable during the summer heat.

Stylish (and Affordable) Diaper Bags

As I’ve been learning recently, a stylish diaper bag can be hard to find. An affordable, stylish diaper bag is even harder. Here are five diaper bags I love—all for around or under $100.

1.- This canvas bag by Matt & Nat is actually $180, but I was able to scoop it up on sale recently for just $27! If you’re willing to wait, flash sales are a great way to get the look you love for less.

2.- JP Lizzy’s satchel diaper bag ($78) looks like a purse, but its large size and wipeable interior/exterior make it functional, too.

3.- I love the pattern on this Bella Tunno tote diaper bag ($89), which could definitely do double-duty as your everyday bag.

4.- The Momo Baby Sling Diaper Bag ($77) is perfect for dads. I love it’s modern design and dad will love that it’s not pink or floral!

5.- This gorgeous quilted bag by Babymel is normally $105, but it’s on sale right now for $98. Moms who’ve reviewed it say it’s spacious, stylish AND comfortable.
