Geometric Patterns Galore

After my last post on spots & dots, I thought I should show you one of my current obsessions:  GEO!
As I mentioned, I’m slightly over chevron so triangles and geometric shapes are a great alternative.

Trendspotting: Polka Dots

Are you seeing spots?  You aren’t alone!  2012 saw chevron everywhere (yes, I’m slightly over it) so what do you think will be the chevron of 2013?  In my opinion, you are going to be seeing polka dots and geometric prints everywhere.  I’m sure you have started to notice the trend!

Polka dots in the nursery

I love spots.  They can be gender neutral for those of you that are planning a nursery or they can be used when transitioning your little one to their first big boy/girl room as they aren’t too babyish and not to grown up.

Dots aren’t a trend to use on every surface, but check out my finds to see some items I think would really set off a room design.

1. Paint palette linen 2.  Neon spot cushions  3.  Dotty blanket 4.  Mini pom pom garland
5.  Multi spots removable wallpaper  6.  Mini Dot Rug  7.  Neon mobile 8.  Smartie pillow slip

Design Advice for Decorating a Shared Kids Rooms

One of the toughest rooms to design is a shared room. You want it to be attractive, but it still needs to store all your little ones bits and pieces! The rooms end up being a bit of a mish-mash as each child brings in pieces from their existing room.

As I prepare to design a room for my boys to share (and I’ll share with you some of my thoughts on the design over the coming months), I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite shared kids’ spaces I’ve found.

Now Available in the US! Stunning Designs for Children’s Interiors

Hi guys, I’m Belinda from Nest Design Studio and I’m thrilled that I’ll be regularly joining the Chic & Cheap Nursery crew to blog about all things nursery!
I’m an Australian Interior Designer who specializes in nursery and children’s room design and I’m a mum to 2 charming boys, Hugh (3) and Charles (18 months).  In fact, you might have seen their nurseries right here on Chic & Cheap Nursery!  You can see Hugh’s room here and Charles’ room here.

Anyway, enough about me….for my first post I thought I would share with you some of my favorite Australian designed products for kids interiors.

First up is the Rokii by Bower & Beyond. It starts life as a rocking egg chair for baby (and also suitable for pre-school kids) but it also transforms to a ride-on toy (the Rokii animal can be attached to the egg or used separately). I got a chance to see it recently at a kids trade show and it is such a beautifully made product. Keep your eyes open US, because Bower & Beyond are aiming to have it on the international market soon.

Next up is the Gelato range of beds from Incy Interiors. Not only loved for its classic hospital style, it’s the colors that get your attention; sunshine yellow, mint & pale pink, make it a versatile bed for both boys and girls. Get in touch with Incy Interiors about shipping to the US.

Finally, the Pod Cot from Ubabub.  I love the soft cocoon shape of the cot and the clear acrylic sides (with gorgeous little star cut outs). It also transforms into a stunning toddler bed. I know many of you have been waiting for this one to come to the US, but wait no longer…..it’s there!

That is just the tip of the iceberg for beautiful Australian design!
