Lola from The Lola Letters created these modern canine silhouette canvases for her nursery for under $50!

How did she do it?

Easy.

Materials:

- 16x 20 Canvases*

- Paint (for canvas background and silhouette)

- Protective Glaze*

- Photo paper or card stock* (to print your silhouette on)

- Free Silhouette Clip Art

Instructions:

1. Paint your canvases with the paint color of your choice. Let dry.

2. Find the free silhouette clip art of your choice and print it out on photo paper or card stock.

3. Paint your silhouette in the color of your choice and let dry.

4. Glue your silhouette on to the canvas.

5. Spray your work with protective glaze.

AND YOU ARE DONE!

Anthropologie also has available the Whorled Trapunto Rug {also available in charcoal and red}, pure wool with floral blooms that swirl and ricochet. This rug would give any room a fun splash of color.

If you’re looking for a rug that’s symmetrical like the Coqo from Anthropologie, you’ll probably like the Andalusia Rug {also available in expresso} from West Elm. This rug is handwoven with exotic patterns inspired by a traditional silk scarf.

This last option is from Bev Hisey and I absolutely love it! It’s a hand-tufted wool carpet with a Moroccan inspired symmetrical pattern.

It’s the funnest nursery for a boy I have seen in a while. It gives a clean and contemporary edge to the classic safari nursery theme and I LIKE IT.

The beautiful modern storage unit to the right is also from Oeuf. It’s called Mini Library and it retails for $650. I have looked EVERYWHERE for an affordable piece that resembled this storage unit. No luck. However, you could choose to purchase the Torsby Sideboard from Ikea for $299. You might even want to consider removing one of the sliding doors in order to get a look that is closer to Oeuf’s Mini Library.

The Shaggy Raggy Lime Rug featured in the picture is 2′8″x 4′8″ and costs approximately $137. Consider getting a smaller sized rug or even a bath rug. No, I’m not crazy. I’m actually a genius! I have a bath mat as the entrance rug to my daughter’s bedroom. It was much cheap than any rug I could have purchased and it was exactly what I was looking for. As an alternative to the Shaggy Raggy Lime Rug, get the All That Jazz Bath Rug in Lime (21″ x 34″) that costs just $24.99.

The Modern Safari Baby Bedding set for $658 is the bedding featured in the image above. I think that is just insane! I found almost an identical crib set at almost half the cost. It’s the Modern Zoo Crib Bedding by Carousel Designs and you can purchase a 4-piece set for $316.

The total cost of decorating your nursery with all of the items from the image on the top would be $3,260. But with a little creativity and a little internet research, we have just duplicated the look of this contemporary safari themed nursery for $1,457.97!
