Describe your decorating style:
The design throughout my house is modern with a pop of color. I wanted to keep the nursery modern as well but add soft touches and textures. The goal was to created a warm, cozy room that would be able to grow with my son Jack.

How do you design a magazine-worthy nursery on a small budget? You take a cue from this new mama! Feast your eyes on this elegant little nursery — are you feeling the silver polka dots as much as me? — and get inspired to put together a dream baby room without breaking the bank. This darling nursery cost less than $1,000!

A muted gray and white color palette with a hint of yellow —to brighten the space— and silver —for a little glitz and glamor– make this the most darling little nursery. My favorite detail about this room has to be the silver polka dots on the wall. I thought they were decals but they’re actually a DIY project with contact paper — can you believe it?!

Many of the big ticket items were gifted to the new parents —like the crib— but the couple set out on a DIY mission. Almost everything in the room is handmade by them —or a loved one— or refurbished/repurposed.

Let’s get nautical! You don’t have to live near the beach to design a nautical beach-themed nursery — all you need is a love of water. What was your inspiration for the room?
My husband and I have always loved the water. I have based our whole house around a theme of the lake and ocean and I wanted to carry that look into Easton’s room. When we found out that we were having a boy I spent sometime thinking about colors and the overall look and I knew that I wanted it to be bold and unlike a lot of the other “soft baby colors”. It was fun incorporating items from past vacations with traditional baby gear to create a look that was sophisticated and fun!

Favorite Items:
I love how the oar turned out. This was something that I literally dreamed of — and set the tone for the whole room.

Any advice to share with mamas-to-be in the process of designing a nursery?
Trust your gut. Don’t be afraid of color, It is just paint and can always be “fixed” if it does not turn out right. I spend a lot of time combining high priced items with great margin buys from Target and Home Goods. The variety is what makes the room unique.

Describe your decorating style: I would say we lean towards modern classic design. Our house is a palette of greys, whites and blacks, and this soft blue-grey room is a welcome addition.

What was your inspiration for the room? We had an idea of how we wanted it to look, but I must say the whole design really came together when we discovered ‘A Vintage Poster’ and ordered the print set above the crib. They became the focal point, and the rest just fell into place!

Describe your decorating style: My style is definitely traditional with shabby, homespun and even country details. I want a space to feel cozy and welcoming — no museums!

What was your inspiration for the room?
I wanted a room that was warm, soothing, soft and functional.

Favorite items in the room:
I love the vintage pieces. I really scored after searching multiple antique store locations. Also the custom bookcases help make the room unique and functional.

Any advice to share with expectant moms  designing a nursery?
The last thing I wanted was for this room to be “matchy matchy”, but I didn’t want it to look hodgepodge either — that’s the tough part. Make sure you’re keeping track of your purchases by putting them up in the room as you get them. Don’t make the mistake of buying stuff randomly and letting it sit in the room until you’re ready to put the room together — you’ll forget what you already have and lose the focus of the room.
