Inspired Ideas for a Stylish Life with Baby: 4/30/12

A stylish and fun big boy room, a welcoming rainbow of colors for the home, a paper mache unicorn, a wooden name sign for baby, and a grocery store birthday party or play date idea!

A stylish and fun big boy room! Featured in the Dutch website 101woonideeen, this aviation/airplane themed bedroom has all the elements of a kids’ room that we love—it’s functional, stylish and space-savvy! With lots of creative details (like the chicken wire armoire doors and the toddler bed/desk) and a few unexpected items (like the yellow school chair and industrial lamp), this toddler room is sure to inspire.

A welcoming rainbow of colors! Give your front door a colorful facelift with this inspired wooden welcome mat idea for Lowe’s. This DIY mat is also perfect for renters, as it allows you to inject a little color and style to the exterior of your home without the “permanency” of other painting projects.

A paper mache animal head tutorial! Lil Blue Boo is our new favorite site—and we discovered it thanks to this unicorn paper mache tutorial. Paper mache animal heads are “hot” right now, but what if you can’t afford to purchase one? Or what if you can’t find the animal you like? Make one!

A wooden name sign for the nursery! In our humble opinion, personalized items are always welcome in a nursery or toddler room. Check out this wooden name sign – in cursive ($60) from Etsy seller Decky Decor to add a personalized touch to your baby’s nursery. And these also make great baby gifts, don’t you think?

A grocery store birthday party or play date idea! A clever and creative little party idea for toddlers that love to pretend, this Grocery Store-themed party by Paper & Cake (featured on HWTM Blog) is one that you do NOT want to miss. And all the entire party printable collection—including the food labels—is available at the Paper & Cake shop for about $19!

Monday Design Inspirations: 03/12/2012

A chevron wall painting project for the nursery, a handmade lion coat for baby, an organized home office idea, a letterpress birth announcement, and a casual yet fashionable outfit for mom.

Lowes is sharing some super creative ideas for the home on their site and this chevron nursery wall project is going viral! I love the bright colors they’ve selected — and you can get the look easily with the help of the experts from Lowes. They’ve included included instructions AND a video explaining how to layout and paint these chevron stripes on your walls.

We’ve had a little break with the weather lately, but kiddos still need to cover up. This Child’s Ferocious Felt Lion Coat ($145) from Little Goodall is simply irresistible — and it looks like something out of a fairy tale. Available for babies 12 months and up.

As we all well know, running a home is a full time job — and mama needs her space to keep everything organized and running smoothly. This small home office space featured on BHG.com is super organized, thanks to squares of fabric-covered corkboard for notes, pegboards for hanging supply cups and bins, and a whiteboard and chalkboard for jotting down reminders.

I’m a big fan of letterpress. I love the work that goes into printing using a letterpress and how the indentations on the paper feel when you brush your fingers against the paper. This Modern Baby Boy Letterpress Baby Announcement was spotted over on Oh So Beautiful Paper, designed by Greg from Work to Date for his newborn son, Oliver.

As warmer weather approaches, I’ve realized that I’m in need of a few new outfits for the new season. Are you in the same boat? Now I know that neon accents are all the rage this Spring, and I’m super excited about that, but I can’t deny that I’ll a traditional girl at heart. I could totally see myself wearing this for a casual outing with the fam!

Monday Design Inspirations: 03/05/2012

*Pinterest Monday posts will now be called Monday Design Inspirations.

A DIY nautical knot shelf, retro storage tins, a fingerprint keepsake idea, beautiful safari cookies for a little girl’s baby shower, and an art wall idea for a small space!

Pottery Barn Kids has an adorable Swing Shelf (orig. $69, on sale for $50), perfect for a girl or a boy’s room. But why buy it, when you can make it yourself? Rebecca of Fresh Chick Design Studio shared this nautical knot shelf DIY — and it only cost her $12 to make! Check out all the details on Project Nursery.

These retro London Storage Tins (approx. $20) are fun and funky. The retro illustrations and bright colors make them perfect little knick knacks for nursery shelves. And as baby grows, these storage tins will be the perfect hiding place for your little ones special treasures.

Hearts made from fingerprints! Kristy of Kristy Makes shared this lovely keepsake idea, fingerprint hearts, that would be a wonderfully unique piece of art for any wall in your home.

We’re always in awe of the beautiful and creative baked goods we find online. These safari onesies and rattles for a girl baby shower are simply divine (also check out these 10 Baby Shower Cookies to drool for we featured a few months back).

We love a good chalkboard project, don’t you? This small wall in between two boys’ rooms was transformed into an art wall with a little bit of chalkboard paint and several inexpensive frames to display the boys’ creations. Full details at A Soft Place to Land.

Design Inspiration: Pinterest Monday (02/27/12)

DIY geometric favor boxes, a unique room decor idea using birthday cards, a fun photo wall idea for any room in the house, a funky teepee and a handmade robot pillow!

Scroll down to check out our weekly Pinterest inspiration post featuring all things pertaining to life with baby — and be sure to follow us on Pinterest for more inspirations! If you don’t have a Pinterest account yet and would like an invite, just leave a comment asking for one and we’ll be sure to send it to you.

We spotted this DIY for some colorful geometric favor boxes {by the girls of HEYLOOK for Ruffled} and me instantly taken aback. Aren’t they gorgeous?! They’ve provided a downloadable template for all the different shapes, so anyone can make these at home.

Sharilyn of Lovely Design has set the goal of designing her daughter’s birthday invitations every year. She’s clearly a talented graphic designer — but it’s what she did with the invites AFTER the birthday that really caught our attention. Sharilyn framed four birthday invites and created a unique decor piece for her growing girl’s room.

This photo wall arrangement, using inexpensive IKEA frames, from Charla Anne Photography {found via Laura Winslow Photography} is another great inspirational idea for displaying your photos and using them as wall decor. You could do something similar in the nursery, or any room in the house.

It’s been too long since we shared a cool teepee. And this indoor tent from 101 Woonideeen, a home and living site from The Netherlands, is great inspiration for any mama who may be thinking of making one for here tot. It even has a little chimney!

A handmade robot pillow ($25), like this one from Etsy seller Little Korboose, is a fun addition to a boy’s room or nursery — and the price is pretty darn good.
