What was your inspiration for the room?
The nursery is at the northwest corner of our house, so it was always a little bit dark. We wanted it to be bright and cheerful, and we wanted a room that could grow with our son, so we painted the walls white and introduced pops of color with the toys, art, and textiles we chose. We figured that it would be easier to replace the bedding and other accessories, rather than completely redecorate the room, to keep up with his current interests as he gets older.

Describe your decorating style.
Vintage Modern – We like bright spaces and clean lines, and often mix old pieces with new.

Favorite items in the room.
I think the sheep mobile is my favorite thing in the nursery. Abe loves it too. We also love all the handmade blankets, artwork, and other gifts our friends made for Abe. They’re a nice reminder of the people we love.

Advice for other mamas-to-be designing a nursery.
Make something special for your baby! (Pinterest and Etsy are great sources for inspiration.) Even if you’re not very crafty, it’s totally worth the time and effort spent trying something new. You’ll never regret having a piece that you can show to your little one and say “I made that for you!”

What was your inspiration for the room?
My husband and I have always loved the water. I have based our whole house around a theme of the lake and ocean and I wanted to carry that look into Easton’s room. When we found out that we were having a boy I spent sometime thinking about colors and the overall look and I knew that I wanted it to be bold and unlike a lot of the other “soft baby colors”. It was fun incorporating items from past vacations with traditional baby gear to create a look that was sophisticated and fun!

Favorite Items:
I love how the oar turned out. This was something that I literally dreamed of — and set the tone for the whole room.

Any advice to share with mamas-to-be in the process of designing a nursery?
Trust your gut. Don’t be afraid of color, It is just paint and can always be “fixed” if it does not turn out right. I spend a lot of time combining high priced items with great margin buys from Target and Home Goods. The variety is what makes the room unique.

What was your inspiration for the room?
Mommy: I wanted a garden or tea theme, but then it turned into this chic, feminine, fun room! It took me by surprise we did such bright colors, and stripes on the wall. The furniture is vintage looking, mirror is fun and flirty, and adding the woodwork was something special too. The wainscoting for a little girl’s room is very special.

Designer: Initially, I was shown the crib bedding, which has flowers and polka dots on it and then built the room around that. I wanted to add different textures and patterns to the room. The tree decal and birds added to the garden theme and so does the mobile with butterflies on it.  Once we received the ribbon style mirror, I wanted to add more girly aspects to the room; like with the pink crystal chandelier, ribbon shelf and ruffle panels.

Describe your decorating style.
Mommy: I love old world with a traditional style and a comfortable feel, like Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. I am not modern at all! That’s why this room is a big surprise to me…because it’s so girly and I absolutely love everything about it!

Designer: I like simple, stylish, comfortable and non-cluttered rooms. I sway to every style out there though, depending on what my client wants. I love modern and classic looks, with clean lines, earth tones and pops of color. Designing this nursery was such a treat for me, since I have a little baby girl too and her room is completely different from this one. I absolutely LOVE the color pink and it just all came together in this beautiful nursery.

Favorite Items:
Mommy: Mirror, little ribbon shelf, tree decal

Designer: I love everything in this room. But especially love the mirror, chandelier, and dresser. They are all classic pieces adding a punch of youth and elegance to the room. It’s just perfect!

Any advice for mamas-to-be designing their nurseries?
Mommy: I looked at a lot of photos, whether they were online or in magazines. Try putting photos into a book, then mix and match to make it your own. Find different pieces and colors from different sites or magazines and turned it into one room.

Designer: Don’t make a nursery so baby-ish. Decorate appropriately for the little one right now with accessories and photos.  Make it easy to change out as the little girl grows with the room, otherwise you may be constantly changing things out and spending a lot of money overtime. Make it timeless.

I have a confession. And let’s try to keep this just between us, ok?

Here goes… I’m not a fan of most celebrity nurseries.

Phew! Feels good to get that off my chest.

However, there are always exceptions like Tiffani Thiessen’s nursery and Tori Spelling’s nurseries for her son Liam and daughter Stella. And now I can add Laila Ali to that very short list of celebrity nurseries that I love.

Laila Ali worked with the uber-talented duo, Naomi Alon and Gerri Panebianco, of Little Crown Interiors to design a custom dream nursery for her little baby girl, Sydney. And they did a FANTASTIC job!

Some of my FAVORITE design features in the room include:

- The color palette. Pink and green make a great color combo. Through in a muted blue/gray and you’ve got yourself the perfect trio!

- The silver wall decals that add architecture to the room.

- The “Hope” Crib and Changing Table. Made in a gorgeous shade of pink, this crib is the combined effort of Little Crown Interiors and Newport Cottages, a luxury furniture maker. Proceeds from the sale of every “Hope” Crib go to Breast Cancer Research and the piece serves as a symbol of courage and compassion.

- The custom crib bedding. Love Bird Damask is my favorite fabric from Carousel Designs and I was so happy to see it in this nursery.

What was your inspiration for the room?

I knew I wanted a contemporary room, and my husband requested animals.  I took those two things and kind of went from there.  The bedding and the furniture were purchased and I didn’t really have a plan for the rest.  It just kind of all came together!

Describe your decorating style.

Simple and contemporary.

Furniture: It’s AP Industries and was purchased from Buy Buy Baby*.  I collected coupons and had enough to get 20% off all of my furniture pieces which saved me quite a bit of money.

Wall Decals: Purchased from Etsy and were suprisinly easier to apply than I thought they would be.  The white trees on the green wall are my favorite!

Bird mobile: It’s the Peep Wall-Mounted Mobile From Boon.

Solar System Mobile and Rug: Both are from Pottery Barn Kids.

Favorite Items.

The clock with the picture of the smiling dog is my favorite item in the room.  My dog (and best friend), Baylee, passed away as we were working on the nursery.  I love being able to see him smiling every time I walk in.  I also have his foot prints in paint on the wall. He will always be with us.
