Gray & White | Design Inspiration

Gray and white — a powerful color combination. It can be crisp and contemporary or soft and delicate. This stylish duo can be used in any room in your home and never goes out of style.

Make white and gray your neutral color palate or bring them in with accessories to brighten up a dark room. Rugs, storage bins, bedding and paint are just a few ways to incorporate gray and white into your nursery decor.

Color Trend for 2011

Each year, the color experts at Pantone choose a color that will set trends for the new year.

2010 was all about turquoise. Calm. Serene.

But 2011’s color of the year is… Honeysuckle.

Courageous. Confident. Vital. A brave new color, for a brave new world. Let the bold spirit of Honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year. It’s a color for every day – with nothing “everyday” about it. – Pantone.com

That’s right!

This year we move towards the vibrant, dynamic, brilliant and upbeat Honeysuckle Pink.

While I absolutely adore this color, I know most of you are not going to run off and paint the walls of the nursery in Honeysuckle.

I suggest adding a touch of fun to your decor by incorporating it in smaller items throughout the room like picture frames or a table lamp.

2. Ornate Resin Picture Frame

3. Square Rice Paper Lantern

4. Elizabeth Double Roll Wallpaper in Pink/Silver

5. Koko Company Floormat Optic in Pink/Red

6. Boon Pink Flair Pedestal High Chair

7. New Arrivals Curtain Set

8. New Arrivals Crib Bedding Blommin Dahlia

* Budget-Friendly Tip: Update an existing piece of furniture by repainting knobs and drawer pulls in Honeysuckle.

Mellow Yellow: Rugs for the Nursery

The Coqo Anthropologie rug in yellow seen in this nursery is very popular {complete details for this nursery can be found here}. Unfortunately, this color has been discontinued so I’ve been searching for a few alternatives to share with you.

Anthropologie also has available the Whorled Trapunto Rug {also available in charcoal and red}, pure wool with floral blooms that swirl and ricochet. This rug would give any room a fun splash of color.

If you’re looking for a rug that’s symmetrical like the Coqo from Anthropologie, you’ll probably like the Andalusia Rug {also available in expresso} from West Elm. This rug is handwoven with exotic patterns inspired by a traditional silk scarf.

This last option is from Bev Hisey and I absolutely love it! It’s a hand-tufted wool carpet with a Moroccan inspired symmetrical pattern.
