Now Available in the US! Stunning Designs for Children’s Interiors

Hi guys, I’m Belinda from Nest Design Studio and I’m thrilled that I’ll be regularly joining the Chic & Cheap Nursery crew to blog about all things nursery!
I’m an Australian Interior Designer who specializes in nursery and children’s room design and I’m a mum to 2 charming boys, Hugh (3) and Charles (18 months).  In fact, you might have seen their nurseries right here on Chic & Cheap Nursery!  You can see Hugh’s room here and Charles’ room here.

Anyway, enough about me….for my first post I thought I would share with you some of my favorite Australian designed products for kids interiors.

First up is the Rokii by Bower & Beyond. It starts life as a rocking egg chair for baby (and also suitable for pre-school kids) but it also transforms to a ride-on toy (the Rokii animal can be attached to the egg or used separately). I got a chance to see it recently at a kids trade show and it is such a beautifully made product. Keep your eyes open US, because Bower & Beyond are aiming to have it on the international market soon.

Next up is the Gelato range of beds from Incy Interiors. Not only loved for its classic hospital style, it’s the colors that get your attention; sunshine yellow, mint & pale pink, make it a versatile bed for both boys and girls. Get in touch with Incy Interiors about shipping to the US.

Finally, the Pod Cot from Ubabub.  I love the soft cocoon shape of the cot and the clear acrylic sides (with gorgeous little star cut outs). It also transforms into a stunning toddler bed. I know many of you have been waiting for this one to come to the US, but wait no longer…’s there!

That is just the tip of the iceberg for beautiful Australian design!

Stylish (and Affordable) Diaper Bags

As I’ve been learning recently, a stylish diaper bag can be hard to find. An affordable, stylish diaper bag is even harder. Here are five diaper bags I love—all for around or under $100.

1.- This canvas bag by Matt & Nat is actually $180, but I was able to scoop it up on sale recently for just $27! If you’re willing to wait, flash sales are a great way to get the look you love for less.

2.- JP Lizzy’s satchel diaper bag ($78) looks like a purse, but its large size and wipeable interior/exterior make it functional, too.

3.- I love the pattern on this Bella Tunno tote diaper bag ($89), which could definitely do double-duty as your everyday bag.

4.- The Momo Baby Sling Diaper Bag ($77) is perfect for dads. I love it’s modern design and dad will love that it’s not pink or floral!

5.- This gorgeous quilted bag by Babymel is normally $105, but it’s on sale right now for $98. Moms who’ve reviewed it say it’s spacious, stylish AND comfortable.

Visions of Sleigh Beds

Your baby’s crib will be the centerpiece of your nursery. Choosing a crib will be the very first, and most important, task in designing your nursery. You don’t necessarily have to have the exact crib chosen but you do need to have a style in mind. The crib style you choose will determine the style of your baby’s room.

If you choose a traditional style, you will more than likely want a sleigh crib. Sleigh cribs are très chic and their traditional style of elegantly sloped headboards and footboards are what make this crib style a popular choice. Thankfully, there are multiple slope styles and designs for you to choose from, allowing you to incorporate some of your own personal tastes when it comes to making your choice.

Bratt Decor Chelsea Cleigh Crib in White

Bratt Decor Chelsea Sleigh Crib

This Bratt Decor Chelsea Sleigh Crib is a modern take on the traditional sleigh crib with a fixed gate. It features beautiful relief carvings on the sides (not seen here) and at the foot of the crib. The Chelsea Sleigh Crib is crafted from solid hardwood and hand distressed. But this gorgeous crib can set you back about $1,321. Yikes!

Larkin Fixed Gate Sleigh Crib from Pottery Barn

Pottery Barn’s Larkin Fixed Gate Sleigh Crib

Pottery Barn Kids offers the Larkin Fixed Sleigh Crib. Although this option forgoes the relief carvings on the sides, it is also made from hardwood and features hand carved details (channeled panels). The Larkin Fixed Sleigh Crib is available at Pottery Barn Kids for $1,099. Still pricey but a more affordable choice than the Bratt Decor Chelsea Sleigh Crib.

Young America by Stanley Stationary Sleigh Crib

Young America by Stanley Stationary Sleigh Crib

For a more affordable choice, you might want to consider the Young America Stationary Sleigh Crib – Merlot. This crib does doesn’t have the carving details but it does feature trim on the sides and it’s available in 9 different finishes. Another plus? The side gates pop out and this crib turns into a day bed. I found this crib online for around $779. Almost half the price of the Bratt Decor Chelsea Sleigh Crib!

BSF Baby 4-in-1 Madison Sleigh Crib

BSF Baby 4-in-1 Madison Sleigh Crib

This option, by far, is the most affordable. The BSF Baby 4-in-1 Madison Sleigh Crib costs just $239.99! And it is a great option for those of you working with limited space. The headboard and footboard feature elegant slopes and this crib converts into a transitional bed without having to purchase a conversion kit.

So whether your budget is big or small, your little prince or prince will be sleeping like royalty, because a traditional sleigh crib is within your reach.
