I’m so excited to share with you this lovely and modern boy nursery designed by Adriane, of the a & b stories — it’s uncluttered, bright and cozy! “Our house is designed around cool neutral tones and we wanted this room to flow with the rest of the rooms. Having never been a big fan of overly themed rooms, we tried to keep it classic but still cute. Most importantly, we think this room will really grow with our boy for years to come.”

Child’s Age: 3 1/2 months old
Location: Hamilton, Ontario

Describe your decorating style: I would say we lean towards modern classic design. Our house is a palette of greys, whites and blacks, and this soft blue-grey room is a welcome addition.
What was your inspiration for the room? We had an idea of how we wanted it to look, but I must say the whole design really came together when we discovered ‘A Vintage Poster’ and ordered the print set above the crib. They became the focal point, and the rest just fell into place!

Thank you SO much for sharing our son’s room!!! We love it so much, and hope that your readers will too!
@Adriane,
OH! I LOVE the books! What are they? The ones with numbers on the spine? It’s a beautiful room!
@Jess (The Cozy Reader), Thank you!! They are a set called ‘My Book House’…I actually picked them up from a thrift shop brand new for about 10 dollars!! I found a link to them on Amazon just so you can get a better look, here you go! http://www.amazon.com/My-Book-House-Volumes-1-12/dp/9990409455
@Adriane,
Thanks! GAH! They’re are a very expensive series of books! I like this edition, 1971, with the colors. I want to find them for $10 brand new! I’ll have to keep an eye out for them elsewhere.
I love this room! It’s a perfect blend of modern and classic. What a relaxing palette she chose.
It is such a beautiful, serene room.

Great room!! Does the white of the crib and the white of the dresser match pretty well or is the dresser more off-white?
@Becky, I’ll try to find out. But the good thing about white furniture is that even if it’s not the exact tone of white, they don’t clash! =)
That’s true…whites are usually pretty safe. As long as they are pretty close, I think i’ll be okay, but I didn’t want the color difference to be obvious. Thank you for looking into this for me!
where did you get the adorable turquoise owl…I LOVE HIM!
@Courtney, Not sure where that owlie came from, but Urban Outfitters has a turquoise owl bank and it’s only $12 http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=19377498&color=046&color=046&itemdescription=true&navAction=jump&search=true&isProduct=true&parentid=SEARCH+RESULTS
Do you know what size the prints are above the crib?
Thanks!
Beautiful room!! I bought the prints from A Vintage Poster! Looking for those frames above the crib…are they from Ikea? My prints are 11X14, and I like the mat frame with it…where can I find them? thank you!! =)
Super cute! Where did you get that long floating shelf above the dresser?
@tfrenzy, That’s a LACK wall shelf from IKEA.
