I’ve been following the progress of this nursery for quite a while. Erin, a new mommy and blogger behind Domestic Adventure, is a hands-on homemaker and who isn’t afraid to tackle DIY projects. Many of the items in this Gray and Yellow Elephant Nursery were handmade by Erin herself! Like the window valances and the updated yellow dresser.

Details below.Child’s Name: Isaac
Child’s Age: 2 weeks
Location: Bar Harbor, Maine
What was the inspiration for the room?
From early on, the color palette and some fabric choices molded the idea for a gray and yellow nursery. Erin put together a design board at 28 weeks! It’s colorful and playful with lots to look at, yet also soothing and comfortable.

Thanks!
I hadn’t been on 20 Something Bloggers in ages either. I logged in to modify the email settings, since I get one every 3 mins, and I found you… what do you know!

That dresser is to die for. I love that Erin added drawer pulls to the piece – I never would have thought of doing that. And the Pottery Barn numbers are fabulous. Only question – I was so afraid of going near paint at all when I was pregnant – is there a guideline on the types of paint to use or do you just wear a mask?

Great question! I found a few guidelines here. I’ll ask Erin for her input.

@jaime, Hi Jamie, I used Olympic’s no VOC paint, which does not smell at all and is safe to use during pregnancy. I did spray paint the drawer pulls, and just did it outside wearing a mask (it didn’t take very long to spray them, so I wasn’t too concerned).
Hope it helps!

@Sonia, This was a gift from the new mom’s sister. She actually made it herself. Sorry!
