A fun decorative piece that’s also functional! We love it when a decorative item in baby’s room does double-duty as a functional item too. Don’t you?
With seven different designs to choose from (there’s an alligator, a giraffe, an elephant, a piggy, a whale, a bunny, and a bird), these Pearhead Wooden Banks ($20) are a fun addition to the nursery shelves — and make unique baby shower gifts.

You’re so glamorous, baby! Glamor is not one of the first things that comes to mind when you think ‘nursery’ — especially if you’re thinking about a baby boy’s room. But new mom Maria Fe of Hello Jack is sharing her nursery with us to prove that you can design a cozy and warm nursery with a modern glam touch for a boy — and on a budget!
Describe your decorating style:
The design throughout my house is modern with a pop of color. I wanted to keep the nursery modern as well but add soft touches and textures. The goal was to created a warm, cozy room that would be able to grow with my son Jack.

Baby’s 1st birthday marks the beginning of a new adventure for parents — toddlerhood. Celebrate with a one-of-a-kind bash, like this modern elephant first birthday!
Custom garlands, labels, little elephants and table decorations, designed by Dulce Sobremesa, make this party one of my favorites of all time! And the beautiful Spanish locale where it was held — look at that crystal chandelier and those ornate arches!!! — set the stage for a memorable first birthday celebration.

I love design-talented women that can translate their style from one area of design to the nest {get it?}. Erika Brechtel is the owner and creative force behind small shop and this is her daughter’s nursery.
Her little girl is almost 2 and Erika wanted to make sure that her daughter’s vibrant personality was incorporated into the space.
Erika’s inspiration for the room started with a trip to the Honolulu Zoo and a stay at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel {check out Erika’s pictures of the hotel. stunning!}.
The Z Gallerie mirror {no longer available. sad face.} and the lucite tray {pictured below} are a few of my favorite items in the room and make it a little less baby and a little more trendy.

I’ve been following the progress of this nursery for quite a while. Erin, a new mommy and blogger behind Domestic Adventure, is a hands-on homemaker and who isn’t afraid to tackle DIY projects. Many of the items in this Gray and Yellow Elephant Nursery were handmade by Erin herself! Like the window valances and the updated yellow dresser.
