Giveaway: A Special Mother’s Day Treat!

A special Mother’s Day giveaway! Last year, my lovely friend Vanessa Coppes was kind enough to giveaway one of her beautiful Mother of Pearl pendants to one of our CCN readers—and I’m thrilled that she’s agreed once again to help us celebrate motherhood with another Mother’s Day giveaway.

Vanessa is the owner of enV Jewelry and she designs unique jewelry pieces inspired by her {and mine} native country, Dominican Republic.

In honor of Mother’s Day and inspired by her own feelings on motherhood, Vanessa has designed the enV Madre Perla Pendant {Mother of Pearl Pendant}.

THE GIFTS OF MOTHERHOOD COME FULL CIRCLE

Just as a mother looks to bring prosperity, good fortune and love to her children, the mother of Pearl and pearls in every enV Madre Perla Piece supports her purity, improves her life, and increases her life’s wealth.

Each Mother of Pearl hoop is made with genuine Mother of Pearl and Swarovski Crystallized Pearls, and 14k gold plated findings or sterling silver findings. Complimentary chain and gift tag describing piece included.

The winner of this giveaway will receive (1) Madre Perla Pendant, small (a $75 value )  from enV by Vanessa Coppes.

There are lots of ways to enter this giveaway (using Rafflecopter).

Mandatory entry: Leave a comment on the giveaway post telling us what your favorite enV by Vanessa Coppes piece is—besides the Mother of Pearl pendant, of course.

A Baby Girl Beach-Inspired Nursery Board

Ana of Bluebird Kisses is back to share some of inspired nursery decor ideas — and this time she’s based her design on a beach wedding color palette!

***

You can draw nursery inspiration from absolutely anywhere, even beach weddings! They’re bright, effortlessly cool and full of fun color combinations.

I love the idea of creating a mini beach retreat in your little guy or girl’s room. Wicker baskets add that rustic touch that beaches give off, and they are an uber cute way of sorting mini laundry.

But only focusing on earth tones can be a bit drab, so be sure to mix in some bright accent colors, like pink or greens…or even TEAL! to break up the monotony.

Here is how you can get the look!

Baby Girl Owl-Themed Nursery {Featured Room}

Putting together a nursery on a small budget can be challenging. But doing so while you are a renter presents a whole new set of complications—no painting allowed, for example. Jordana K. is a new mom and CCN reader. She resides in Canada and designed this neutral, owl-themed nursery for her newborn baby girl in her rental apartment—for about $1,000!

Scroll down for a nursery tour!

Child’s Name: Olivia Grace
Child’s Age: 1 month
Location: Ontario Canada

What was your inspiration for the room?
I needed to have a room that was gender neutral but pushed the boundaries of a normal green and yellow room. I love color!  I decided to choose owls as the theme because of all the nights I was up during the pregnancy— because my little girl was kicking. During the pregnancy we called her ” mon petit hibou”  which is my little owl in French.  I also read that babies don’t see pastel colors so I wanted to decorate with brighter colors. I was first inspired by the tree decals I spotted on Etsy and the curtains at Crate and Barrel.

Describe your decorating style.
I love color! I also love  simple lines and furniture that is functional. I like using items that support local artists and shopping at  stores that create environmentally friendly items.

Favorite items in the room.
Some of my favorite items are the yellow owl piggy bank, the mustard curtains, the paper mobile, the decals on the wall and my wall of photographs.

Any words of wisdom to share with other mamas-to-be designing a nursery on a small budget?
There is no reason you can’t stick to a budget. My budget was $1,000 for everything and I only went over it slightly. Take the time you have when you are pregnant and dreaming of your new baby to research and find great items. Etsy is a great online place to start looking for items. Also, it’s never  too early to start decorating. I started at the beginning of my second trimester and I’m glad I did. I had tons of time to go shop around, plus I still had energy to put the room together.
