Affordable Nursery Decorating Ideas and Inspiration, Great Finds For Baby and Mom, DIY Projects, and Parties
A child is only a tiny newborn baby for a short period of time — as a mom, I can tell you that it flies by! So it’s important to capture those fleeting moments with some GREAT pictures. Take a cue from these professional newborn photos and snap away!
We don’t know what it is about vintage party themes that we love so much but we find ourselves fascinated every time!
We’re featuring an old school barbershop birthday party (with plenty of mustaches) in a red, white and blue color scheme that could also work well as a baby shower theme too.
Although I’ve seen the “little man” theme done many times, I couldn’t help but plan this theme for my son’s first birthday party! We have called him “little man” and “Bodeman” since before he was born so it was a very fitting option for us.
Get all the party details and view more pictures of Bodhi’s first birthday extravaganza after the jump!
Kiddie birthday parties are a great source of inspiration when it comes to nursery design. But how do you translate a party theme to decor? That’s the question that our lovely reader Sarah Q. had for me.
Sarah writes “I love those ‘Little Man’ mustache parties (also known as barbershop-themed parties) that are all over Pinterest—but how would I translate that into a nursery theme? No idea where to start really…. Help!”
Not to worry, Sarah. Help is here!
A mustache find for baby, stylish kitchen inspiration and mama’s new must-have tote!
Mustaches continue to trend when it comes to all things baby and kid related—mustache bibs, mustache parties, you name it! We know, we know — they’re irresistible. If you want to add a little mustache lovin’ to your kiddos’ decor, check out these handmade mustache blankets we found on Etsy by Little Hip Squeaks.
I may not be the best cook, but I spend many hours a week in the kitchen preparing meals for my little one. And since I spend so much time there, I feel it’s important that the space is pleasant, functional and pretty. If a kitchen remodel is in your future, check out BHG.com for some inspiring ideas. Here’s one in particular I’m archiving for a future project. It uses glass plates as an alternative to the traditional tile backsplash. It’s sleek and easy to clean — and look how well it goes with the glass mosaic tile!
One of our favorite summer finds! We’re head-over-heels for the Juno totes by Deux Lux ($84-$99). They’re reversible—with eight color combinations to choose from—so basically they’re like two bags in one. Take the black/teal combo pictured above. You can spend all day running errands with the teal tote and then just flip it inside out to turn it into a black tote for your evening plans.

Mustaches are all the rage when it comes to anything baby boy related. Mom Katie decided to go with a mustache theme for her son’s first birthday not because she wanted to go with the trend, but because she thought he would look really cute in a mustache! She made all of the decorative elements herself and threw her big boy a very fun, and personal, first birthday celebration.
The party was held at home and plenty of family and friends were invited — a cozy affair to celebrate baby’s first year of life. Baby Jude was dressed to coordinate with the party theme in a darling mustache tee and faux mustache. What a gentleman!
Katie made a personalized birthday banner and colorful paper party hats to decorate her home for the occasion. The “Happy Birthday” party banner was made using wood letters purchased from a local craft store and scrapbooking paper, while the baby’s name was spelled out with jumbo cardboard letters wrapped with yarn.
As you scroll down, look carefully and you’ll spy some pictures of baby’s of year strung along the windows, using red and white bakers twine and clothes pins to clip the pictures.
Happy 1st Birthday, Jude!
Check out Jude’s nautical toddler room and his modern forest-themed nursery too!
