Feminine, Sophisticated and Sweet

Feminine Baby Girl Nursery

This week’s featured nursery is a beautiful and feminine room from CCN reader Meghan S. She took her time putting together this sweet room together for her little girl and it certainly paid off! These new parents wanted to keep the color palette and feel of the room consistent with the rest of their home but also wanted it be a pretty space for their little girl.  The result? A sophisticated, feminine look in shades of tan, gray, white and soft pink.

Location: Sewickley, Pennsylvania

What was your inspiration for the room?
Open up a Restoration Hardware Baby & Child catalog and that was my inspiration.  I never wanted a “theme-y” nursery or something so pink and bold that it was like a circus.  I wanted a room with decor that went with our style and matched with the rest of our house — something that was sweet and feminine, with a touch of rustic and lots of sentimental touches!
Describe your decorating style.
According to my fancy interior design friend, my style is heirloom transitional. We love the look of contemporary pieces mixed with antique. We love the stories behind the old and the freshness of the new.

Favorite items in the room?
My favorite things in Charlotte’s nursery are definitely the dresser, the mirror and the bedding.  All so feminine and sweet, just like my little girl.

Any advice for mamas-to-be designing their nursery with a limited budget?
When I was pregnant, someone gave me the awful advice to not worry about getting the nursery done before the baby arrives because baby won’t know the difference.  So, that’s what I did and 6 months later our daughter’s nursery still wasn’t complete!  So, my advice is to definitely get everything and anything done before your baby’s arrival – you won’t have time or energy in those first few months to get anything done!

  1. Im hoping for a boy but this room makes me want a girl… Gorgeous and so warm!

  2. what a gorgeous room. This is really super sweet. Looks like something out of a magazine.

  3. This is really simple and clean. I like the colors, muted, but it gets the point across. I love the placement of the moss “dream” letters and how when she’s old enough to reach it, your walls have an incline you could attach to which will still be visible from the child’s bed!
