Purple and Chevron: A Modern Girl Nursery

This week’s featured baby room is a modern girl’s nursery. It’s purple and white color scheme make this room feminine and sophisticated, while chevron patterns pop up all over the room for a more playful feel.

Chevron Nursery - Purple White Girl Baby Room

Designed by soon-to-be-mom Carey A., the inspiration for this sweet nursery started with a Pinterest board. Carey slowly purchased or DIYed her pins from Pinterest and the end result is a unique, modern baby room designed by mom. Check out all the details after the jump!

Child’s Name: Alyse Sage
Child’s Age: Due to arrive September 22, 2012.
Location: Fort Bragg, NC

What was your inspiration for the room?
The gray & white chevron print got the wheels turning. Wanting a theme that would easily transition into a toddler room, we went with a nature/woodsy feel. Continuing that vibe, we added pops of color throughout the room using peacock feathers as the color inspiration.

Describe your decorating style.
We knew from the beginning we did not want a typical baby-theme-in-a-bag nursery. Pastels and cutesy baby décor is not our style and we naturally leaned toward our preferred decorating style – modern.

Favorite items in the room.
We both love the sheepskin rug and firefly nightlight.

Any advice for other mamas-to-be designing their nurseries?
Don’t limit yourself to a theme-in-a-bag nursery — be creative! Buy a few things over a period of time, slowly but surely everything will come together. Most importantly, enjoy your time together preparing the room for your little one.

  1. I love it and can’t wait to see it! You did an amazing job and are so creative! XoXo -Jaclyn

  2. Andrea Taylor says

LOVE the color scheme. Baby Sage will not be bored in this room yet she will feel loved and at peace.

  3. Love all the razzle dazzle purplish accents in this nursery! That particular shade of blue and purple really are a perfect pair, ain’t it? Lively and cool to the eyes.

  4. This is so pretty! You could easily make it a boys room, by putting the focus on the blue and using the purple (or even peacock green) as an accent shade. So much more fun that all the pre-bagged baby sets. I have loved this chevron pattern recently so I might be borrowing some of these ideas someday!
