The lovely Lola from The Lola Letters recently finished decorating her nursery for baby #2 and she decided to share some of the details with us! Lola took on a few DIY projects to make the room extra special and we think you might be jumping into a few of these projects yourself. We know we will!

Child’s Name: Tennyson
Child’s Age: Due on August 8th, 2010
Location: Springville, Utah
What was your inspiration for the room?
We wanted this nursery to look and feel as clean and fresh as possible. I hate clutter, and therefore wanted decorations to be sparse. I also wanted every piece of furniture included in the room to be functional.

Details about the room:
Paint: The color is Wading Duck by Color Palace, sold at Walmart. Lola wanted the blue to be bright and fun and to somewhat resemble a refreshing swimming pool.
Decorative Pillow: From Target for $4.99!
Silhouette Wall Art: DIY project. See details here.
Sunburst Mirror: DIY project! Can you believe it? Lola found a super simple tutorial here and made the mirror for under $11.

Curtains: From Ikea! These are actually shower curtains and Lola also used them to replace the closet door in her nursery. She does warn us of 2 things: they need to be hemmed and they are a real hassle to iron. But for under $20, I think it might be worth it.
Rocking Chair: Purchased at a yard sale for $2… 6 years ago! It took 2 cans of paint to coat this rocking chair. But Lola only spent $2 on paint at Walmart!
Throw Pillow on Rocker: Made from Ikea fabric. Lola raves about their fabric selections and prices.
Vinyl Lettering: Vinyl lettering has become very popular. Lola purchased her’s local craft store, Robert’s Crafts. You can also purchase vinyl decor from stores like Michael’s, Target, Kolh’s and even Diapers.com.

A big ‘Thank You!’ to Lola for sharing her design secrets with us. Be sure to visit Lola’s blog, The Lola Letters, to read about her design choices and dilemmas while designing her nursery.

LOVE it!
I love the color of the walls! I tried to find this color at Walmart and had trouble finding it. Any suggestions?
@Jenna, If you asked an employee in the paint sections and they were not able to help, I would suggest printing this page out and heading to Home Depot, Lowes, or Sherwin Williams. If you go to Lowes, check out Valspar’s Cassiopeia LA1313. Looks very similar. And I always recommend painting a sample on the wall to see how the color will look in YOUR room.
Good luck!
